How do I find out if something is in store at ALDI? ›

Owned by a German company called Albrecht Discounts, ALDI is a discount grocery chain that started in Germany in 1948. Decidedly no frills, the company stocks virtually all house-brand products, all offered at very low prices thanks to exclusive deals with their suppliers, many of which are big-name producers.

In a major deal in Florida's grocery industry, Aldi announced Wednesday it is buying Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarket. Aldi, which has been expanding in the Southeast, will buy about 400 Winn-Dixie and Harveys stores in Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana and Mississippi from Southeastern Grocers.

Aldi Nord also owns the Trader Joe's grocery chain in the United States which operates separately from the group. Aldi Süd owns the Winn-Dixie and Harveys supermarket chains in the southern United States. Aldi is the chief competitor of the similar German discount chain Lidl in several markets.
