Visitation Thursday 2 19 9 p.m. Info, 708-598-5880 Bobbie Goldblatt, fundraiser By Meg McSherry Breslin TRIBUNE STAFF WRITER Bobbie Goldblatt was a hardworking woman from an immigrant family on her way to a promising career as performer when she met her future husband, who was to become chief executive officer of Chicago's famed Goldblatt's department stores.

After marrying Louis Goldblatt, Mrs. Goldblatt was thrust into a different kind of limelight--that of a mother and society figure with key leadership positions in many charitable causes across the city. But Mrs. Goldblatt remained true to her down-to-earth roots, striking those she encountered as a woman without pretense and with a genuine commitment to the basic values of family and friendship. Mrs.

Goldblatt, who also wrote a society column for North Shore Magazine for many years, died Tuesday of non-Hodgkins lymphoma in her Wilmette home. She was 70. "As busy as she was, she was still my mom and always a mom. Everything she did was with a motherly instinct," said her son Gary Goldblatt. "She just always had time for her kids, no matter what, and she was always quick to give motherly advice." Mrs.

Goldblatt grew up on Chicago's West Side, working as a young girl in her immigrant family's grocery. By the time she was a teenager, her love for singing and performing led to performances at many clubs. Early in her career, she won a beauty contest of sorts, being selected as the Chicago Press Photographers Association's Miss Photoflash in 1951. Subsequently, she won the Miss National Press Photographers title, which led to a career as a model and a small role in a Hollywood movie, "Rhubarb." Her son David Goldblatt, a California pianist and composer who has written music for television and movies, credits Mrs. Goldblatt MEYER Robert B.
