Been using this site for 20 some years. No sense running any wanted ads. Have run looking for fenders. ALL 4 responses last couple days were new users and all scammers. Will not respond to any new users. Must be way to block new users by method of serious tractor related questions.

Your dilemma maybe could somewhat remedied by only allowing users with 5 or more unrelated forum posts to make contact.
Just a thought.

Good morning, I have just implemented the change that no unregistered users can see or interact with any wanted ads or start private conversations with registered users. I am looking into creating the limitation the @DoubleO7 mentioned above. Thank you both for your input!
PLEASE report any suspicious users or activity on the forums!

OK, I have created some strict criteria for users to be allowed to create/view/interact at all with ads. I do not want to post the criteria publicly so that it is not immediately subverted by any possible bad actors. Hopefully this change drastically cuts down on suspicious behavior around the classifieds. Please continue to be vigilant and report any suspicious behavior or posts so that myself and the moderation team can handle those issues ASAP.
If you find yourself or other users you interact with regularly suddenly unable to interact with ads please use the contact form or respond on this thread.
Thanks so much!

I just got forced onto 2FA in order to log in. We're going to lose quite a few old time members if it's even more cumbersome to navigate around here.

Please explain to the ignorant like me what that means.

He is saying he was forced to use 2 Factor Authentication. This was not a part of any changes I made, looks like an isolated incident for the single user. I made sure the new user group that is allowed to interact with ads DOES NOT force 2FA, if it is not enabled at the user preference level.
Thanks!

More than just scooter are now affected by the 2 factor authorization issue.

I have been Flaging some of the Ad's that just don't seem to be right
Some thing that could be of help would be that a New Member could not Post a Ad or Answer one for 48 Hours

Please see my thread in Tractor Talk. I was forced to enable "2FA" if I wanted to continue using the site.

It said the forum feature wasn't available to me unless I activated 2FA. I always stay logged in across devices and didn't do anything different this morning. I checked multiple devices for the notification before enabling the 2FA.
edit: I just disabled it so we'll see how it goes.

Please continue to flag all suspicious ads/users, thank you for doing so!
As for your recommendation there have been new, more strict criteria created to stop spam ads being posted.
Thanks!
