Asked by Cocacolakid45 May 26, 2024 at 11:40 PM about the 2016 Nissan Rogue SV FWD
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
Update. Back at the start of this whole thing
I was asking why my evaporator was
freezing up and at 1st I thought it was low
on freon. Had Nissan check and they told
me Freon was fine but the HVAC box had to
be replaced, $3000. so got on here and
thought it might of been the blender door
like a lot of you but mine wasn't stripped so I
held off on the kit I have talked about on
here. Well summers here and I'm pissed
because it takes me 1 hour to get to work
and the only work around I have found is run
the A/C until the blower starts blowing less
air then I put it on floor turn it up 90 and
melt the ice off the evaporator, 4 or 5
minutes or until I feel the air blowing again
and then turn the air back on and ride for
about 30 minutes and do it all over again.
Like I said pissed. Well I tried searching for a
better answer again and I guess I typed it a
different way because a video from a year or
so ago came up and to day I put the part in
and guess what. All fixed. Running great.
Screw Nissan and Screw their $3000. 23
bucks folks and easy to. Evaporator
temperature sensor. Generic Intermotor

This is why you never go to the dealer if you can avoid it. An independent shop most likely would have found and fixed the problem long ago.

When I was reading your post I was thinking low pressure cut off switch or expansion valve. Both those devices control the evaporator temperature and prevent it from freezing up. Just depends on what system you have. Thanks for sharing this with us and I'm sure you'll save at least one person a ton of money!! Jim
